I would love to review this inn, but unfortunately we never got there. I booked online for a much needed weekend away for my husband and I, and received a confirmation email. I called the week before our stay to confirm everything and make sure everything was paid upfront, and was told that they did not have my reservation. When I told the woman I had a confirmation email, she put me on hold for quite some time, and when she came back, I was told that while they did find my reservation, they had a computer error and unfortunately my reservation for the room we selected came in after it was already booked for a wedding that same weekend. I was very disappointed, but I understand that things happen. However, what made it so much worse was that there was no effort made to make it right, no offering a different weekend, no offering any type of compensation for the wasted time and ruined vacation. I was excited to stay here because the grounds and the rooms looked beautiful, but the lack of effort to help right a wrong was unacceptable. I basically hung up feeling - I'm sorry but they booked it before you did, sucks to be you, have a nice life. All I can say is if you reserve online, make sure to follow it up with a phone call. And don't expect much if they make a mistake.
This is a great place to stay in Luray and the Shenandoah valley. The inn is very historic with a beautiful entryway. They have two restaurants, Circa '31 and The Speakeasy. Both restaurants offer great meals at reasonable prices. The rooms are a reasonable size with great mattresses. I would stay here again. We had a wonderful time.
The South River cottage is amazing! Great service, atmosphere, and very clean rooms. Plus the cottage has a jetted tub (score!)
The main building is historical and beautiful. My wife and I stayed in the "Bridal cottage," even though we were married a bit ago. Gorgeous and clean, plenty of hot water, private. The staff was pleasant too. Great experience and will do again.
What a beautiful, old, turn of last century hotel. Sunday brunch incredible, staff friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend.
